Conference addresses leniency agreements and their importance for integrity in private enterprises
In times where criminal prosecution and major operations have taken society’s attention, discussing the integrity of public and private entities is essential. To this end, the Congress on Anti-Corruption Mechanisms and Judicial Reflexes, which takes place at the Plenary of the Federal Regional Court of the 4th Region (TRF4), continued the work started this morning (12/13) and brought to the debate the topic of leniency agreements. The person responsible for the conference was the lawyer and professor at the University of São Paulo (USP) Sebastião Botto de Barros Tojal.
Tojal discussed the evolution of leniency agreements and their importance for integrity in private enterprises, reflecting on the experiences he gained during his years as a lawyer for several companies that signed agreements. According to the professor, this time in which he was involved in the subject made him have a positive and optimistic view on the future of leniency, both for the government and for the companies involved.
